The Quick Answer
I would buy the budget rechargeable produce cleaner.
When I started looking at rechargeable fruit and vegetable cleaners, one of the products that caught my attention was selling for around $70.
But before spending that much, I went looking for alternatives.
What I found surprised me: rechargeable produce-cleaning devices with many of the same basic features are available for a fraction of the price.
So, is the expensive version worth paying several times more for?
For me, no.
The Head-to-Head
Premium Produce Cleaner
Price when researched: Approximately $70
What I Like
• Rechargeable
• Cordless
• Easy one-button concept
• Portable
• Designed to work in a bowl or sink of water
• No disposable filters required on many models
What Gives Me Pause
• Approximately $70 for a relatively simple device
• Similar products are available for substantially less
• Marketing claims can be difficult for consumers to independently verify
• I couldn’t find enough added functionality to justify paying several times more
PEKKAXY Produce Cleaner
Typical price when researched: Approximately $18–$22, depending on seller and version
What I Like
• Rechargeable
• Cordless
• One-button operation
• IPX7 waterproof design listed by sellers
• Portable
• Designed for fruits, vegetables and other foods
• No ongoing filter purchases
• Significantly less expensive
What Gives Me Pause
• Limited review history on some listings
• Availability and sellers may change
• Seller descriptions make strong purification claims that I would not rely upon without independent evidence
The Price Difference Matters
This is where the comparison became easy for me.
If Product A costs approximately $70 and another product provides the basic features I’m actually looking for at roughly $20, the expensive product needs to give me a compelling reason to spend another $50.
I couldn’t find one.
That’s roughly $50 left in my pocket.
And that’s really what Which Would I Buy? is about.
I’m not necessarily looking for the cheapest product.
I’m looking for the product that gives me the best combination of function, convenience and price.
A Word About the Big Cleaning Claims
You’ll see some of these devices advertised with impressive-sounding claims about removing pesticides, sterilizing food or dramatically reducing microorganisms.
I don’t think those claims should be the reason you buy one.
Those statements often originate with sellers or manufacturers, and marketing language isn’t the same thing as independent proof.
I would look at these devices more practically:
Does it give me a convenient additional step in my produce-washing routine at a price I’m comfortable paying?
That’s a much easier question to answer.
Which Would I Buy?
🏆 MY PICK: PEKKAXY
Both options offer the basic features I care about: rechargeable, cordless, portable, easy to use and designed for produce washing.
But the PEKKAXY option can cost roughly one-third—or even less—of the price of the premium alternative.
I didn’t see enough additional value in the ~$70 option to justify the difference.
And I put my money where my mouth is: I bought the PEKKAXY.
That’s the deciding factor for me.
I wasn’t simply asking which product looked better on paper.
I asked:
Which would I buy?
PEKKAXY won.
Best For
Choose the budget PEKKAXY-style cleaner if: You want a simple rechargeable produce-cleaning device without spending $70.
Consider the premium option if: You find independently verified features, warranty coverage or performance that specifically matter to you enough to justify the higher price.
